These Air Fryer Pork Chops are tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned! They cook quickly and are perfect for an easy weeknight dinner. Recipe includes cook times for both bone-in and boneless pork chops.

When I need a quick meal that’s easy to prepare, I often turn to pork chops. My family’s other favorite pork chop recipes include Baked Pork Chops, Crock Pot Pork Chops and Instant Pot Pork Chops

Three boneless air fryer pork chops on a plate with lemon wedges.

I love using my air fryer to cook proteins like chicken, pork, salmon and steak. While cooking, the air fryer circulates hot air around the food in the basket. Food cooks quickly, and crispy foods become extra crispy while proteins cook up especially tender and juicy. That is especially true for these air fryer pork chops!

If you’ve had the unfortunate experience of sitting down to a plate of dried out pork chops, keep reading for my tips on how to make the best juicy pork chops in your air fryer. Serve them with a vegetable side dish and potatoes or bread for an easy, delicious dinner!

What a great rub. The pork chops were delicious and not dry at all. Thanks for the recipe!

Air Fryer Pork Chops Recipe Ingredients

You’ll need just a few ingredients to make these air fryer pork chops, and most of them are seasonings that you probably already have in your kitchen!

Ingredients for air fryer pork chops recipe.
  • Pork Chops: Both boneless pork chops and bone-in pork chops work great in this recipe. Use pork chops that are at least 1-inch thick, because thin pork chops can easily dry out and become tough.
  • Olive Oil: Rubbing the pork chops with olive oil helps the seasonings to stick to the meat. It also keeps the outsides of the chops moist.
  • Brown Sugar: I add brown sugar to the seasoning mix because it helps to caramelize the seasoning as it cooks. The brown sugar also brings a delicious subtle sweetness to the rub. If you prefer a sugar-free recipe you can omit the brown sugar.
  • Seasonings: To season these air fryer pork chops, I used a variation of my favorite pork rub. Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt and pepper add delicious flavor. You can use sweet or smoked paprika. Smoked paprika will lend a smoky, slightly spicy flavor, while sweet paprika has a milder flavor.

How to Make Air Fryer Pork Chops

Combine the seasoning rub ingredients in a small bowl.

Preheat the air fryer to 400° F for 5 minutes.

Season pork chops. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the pork chops with olive oil. Then rub the seasoning mix over all sides of the pork chops.

Rubbing seasonings onto four boneless pork chops.

Air fry pork chops. Place the pork chops in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket. Air fry at 400° F for 5 minutes. Then flip the pork chops over and continue cooking until they are cooked through to at least 145° F, about 3-7 more minutes for boneless chops or 6-10 more minutes for bone-in chops.

Let them rest! Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes, to allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. Then serve and enjoy!

How to Tell When Pork Chops are Done

The cook time will depend on whether you’re cooking boneless or bone-in chops, as well as the thickness of the pork chops.

The best way to tell when pork chops are done is to use an instant read thermometer to measure the internal temperature in the center of the meat. The USDA recommends cooking pork to an internal temperature of 145° F and then allowing the meat to rest for at least 3 minutes before serving, for food safety. The temperature of the meat will continue to rise a few degrees during the rest time due to carryover cooking.

Recipe Tips

  • Use thick-cut pork chops. It’s best if they are at least 1-inch thick. Thin pork chops tend to dry out and become tough more easily.
  • Arrange the pork chops in a single layer in the air fryer basket, so that the air can circulate around each chop as they cook. If the pork chops won’t all fit in a single layer at once, you can cook them in batches, covering the first batch to keep them warm while the rest cook.
  • Flip the pork chops over halfway through the cook time to promote even cooking.
  • Don’t overcook them. Use an instant read thermometer to test if they are cooked to 145° F. Once pork chops are nearly done, they finish cooking quickly so check them often.
  • Let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This is key for juicy pork chops.

Easy Crock Pot Pulled Pork Recipe

This pulled pork recipe is one of our favorite family-friendly dinners because it’s so incredibly easy and so delicious. It’s one of those recipes that you’ll want to have in your collection for busy days because it requires so little prep time.

This crock pot pulled pork is a dump and go slow cooker recipe, meaning there’s no pre-cooking (or even chopping) needed. You just put all of the ingredients in the crock pot, turn it on, and that’s it! The pulled pork cooks low and slow all day and you come home to a flavorful home-cooked meal.

After slow cooking, the pork shreds so easily and you won’t believe how tender and flavorful it is. I always have to sneak a few bites straight from the crock pot! We like to serve it in pulled pork sandwiches the first day, and then use the leftovers to make tacos, quesadillas or nachos.

If you’re craving pulled pork and forget to plan ahead for your slow cooker, try this Instant Pot Pulled Pork recipe.

Ingredients

Ingredients for crock pot pulled pork recipe.

You’ll need just 5 ingredients, plus salt and pepper, to make this pulled pork recipe.

  • Pork Shoulder/Pork Butt. You can make this pulled pork recipe with pork shoulder or pork butt. Pork shoulder/Boston butt make a flavorful pulled pork because they are a fattier cut of meat. They are also typically budget-friendly and perfect for feeding a crowd.
  • BBQ Sauce. Use your favorite BBQ sauce since the flavor will really impact the flavor of the final dish. I like to look for a BBQ sauce with lower sugar and a short ingredient list. If you have five extra minutes I highly recommend making my Homemade BBQ Sauce. You can just dump all of the BBQ sauce ingredients in your slow cooker and stir (no need to simmer on the stove).
  • Apple Cider Vinegar. This helps to tenderize the meat and adds extra flavor.
  • Pulled Pork Rub. For this recipe, I keep the spice rub simple with chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. You can also use my Pork Rub recipe, which is delicious on pulled pork.

How to Make Crock Pot Pulled Pork

This slow cooker pulled pork recipe is so simple to make! You don’t need to sear or brown the meat before adding it to your slow cooker. You won’t notice much difference in the flavor of the pulled pork if you do brown the meat, so save yourself a step and some time.

To prep this recipe, start by putting the pork in the slow cooker. Sprinkle on the seasonings and then add the BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar. Cook on low for 8-9 hours or high for 5-6 hours. This is the perfect crockpot meal to make if you are going to be out all day, since it can cook all day on low.

The pulled pork is done when it shreds easily with a fork. Before shredding, let the meat rest in the slow cooker or on a cutting board for 10 minutes. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, for juicier shredded pork.

Shredding cooked pork butt with two forks in slow cooker.

You can return the shredded pork to the sauce in the slow cooker, or, if you want it less saucy, add back your desired amount of juices to the pork in a serving bowl.

I made this for a group of friends we had come over. It was absolutely amazing. I made homemade coleslaw, macaroni salad and potato salad for the sides. This recipe was a huge hit. Everybody raved about it. I served the pork on brioche buns with the kicked up slaw on top. It was so delicious. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I will definitely be making this again.

What to do with Leftover Pulled Pork

I like to make a batch of pulled pork at the beginning of the week because I can serve it a couple of different ways throughout the week. It makes delicious leftovers! Our favorite way to serve it is in classic BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Serve the pork on toasted burger buns (try these Brioche Buns) or rolls, with extra BBQ sauce and this homemade Coleslaw Recipe or Apple Slaw

This crock pot pulled pork recipe also makes great tacos, nachos, quesadillas and lettuce wraps. It’s also delicious in a salad. Try it in place of the chicken in this BBQ Chicken Salad.

What to Serve with Pulled Pork

Wondering what to serve on the side? Here are some of our favorite side dishes for pulled pork to round out the meal.

Pulled pork in a serving bowl with bbq pulled pork sandwiches served on plates.

Storage Tips

Freezing Pulled Pork

Leftover pulled pork freezes well. Cool the shredded pork completely, seal it in an airtight container with the cooking sauce, and freeze for up to 2-3 months. Thaw, heat and serve when you are ready.

Reheating Tips

You can reheat pulled pork in the microwave, but for best results reheat it on the stove. Place your pulled pork in a small saucepan and add a little BBQ sauce, water or broth. Cover the pot and heat over low until warmed through, stirring occasionally. If your pulled pork is frozen, it’s best to thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

How to Make Juicy Pork Chops

Follow these tips to ensure that your pork chops turn out incredibly juicy and tender, every time.

  • Choose thick-cut pork chops whenever possible. They’ll be less likely to dry out when cooking.
  • Bone-in pork chop recipes vs. boneless pork chop recipes: Follow the tips in the recipe you’re making. As a general rule, bone-in pork chops will be more juicy than boneless because the bone helps to keep the meat from drying out. Boneless pork chops cook more quickly.
  • Don’t overcook them! Overcooking pork chops is a sure-fire way to dry them out. How long to cook pork chops is going to depend on your cooking method and the thickness of the pork chops.
  • Use an instant read thermometer to check when pork chops are done. The internal temperature of pork chops should be 145 degrees F after cooking, according to the USDA.
  • Let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat; otherwise the juices will run out all over the plate or cutting board.
  • Use a pork chop marinade or pork rub to add flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper or to taste
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 2 bone-in pork chops at least 1-inch thick, see note for boneless
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, stir together the salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and cayenne.
  • Place the flour in a wide, shallow dish.
  • Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet, such as a cast iron skillet, over medium-high heat.
  • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Rub the seasoning mixture over the pork chops. Coat pork chops in the flour and add them to the hot pan. (Cook in batches or use two pans if they won't all fit in the pan at once.)
  • Cook the pork chops for 2 minutes on each side to get a nice golden brown sear. Then reduce the heat to medium, flip and continue cooking for 5-10 more minutes per side, or until the pork chops register 145° F in the center when measured with an instant read thermometer. Be careful to not overcook them as this will dry them out. (If your pork chops are thin they will likely cook in less than 5 minutes per side.)
  • When the pork chops are almost cooked through, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and the fresh thyme to the pan. Allow the butter to melt. Remove the pan from the heat. Spoon the butter and thyme sauce over the pork chops.
  • Let pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Two large bone-in pork chops will provide 2 large servings or 4 smaller servings. You can use 4 pork chops to serve more people. You may need to cook them in two batches if they won’t all fit in the pan.
  • To use boneless pork chops, keep a close watch on them so that they don’t overcook and dry out since boneless chops cook faster. Using thick cut pork chops (at least 1-inch thick) also helps to prevent them from drying out.

Easy Pan Fried Pork Chops

Since our Baked Pork Chops recipe is one of our most popular recipes, I figured you all would love another easy pork chop recipe: Pan Fried Pork Chops!

Cooking pork chops in a skillet is fast, easy and gives you the best crispy browned crust on the pork chops. And that browned crust = major flavor.

The pork chops are finished with a simple pan sauce made from butter and fresh thyme. So simple. So, so good.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients for pan fried pork chops recipe.
  • Bone-In Pork Chops: I like using bone-in pork chops for this recipe because the bone keeps the meat especially moist. To make pan fried boneless pork chops, just keep a close watch on them so that they don’t overcook and dry out. Using thick pork chops (at least 1-inch thick) also helps to prevent them from drying out.
  • Seasonings: The seasoning mixture on these pork chops adds so much flavor! You’ll need kosher salt, paprika (I used sweet paprika), garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper adds a little kick of heat, but this recipe is not overly spicy.
  • Flour: Dredging the seasoned pork chops in flour helps to create the browned crust as they cook in the skillet.
  • Olive Oil and Butter: Cooking the pork chops in both olive oil and butter gives you both richness and flavor. The butter also helps to create a pan sauce at the end.
  • Fresh Thyme: Thyme and pork are a delicious pair. The fresh thyme really adds something special to this recipe, so I highly suggest adding it.

  1. Cook 2 minutes per side to get a nice browned crust. Then reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking for 5-10 more minutes per side, until the pork chops are cooked through. Be careful to not overcook them, since this will dry them out.
  2. When the pork chops are almost done, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the fresh thyme to the skillet. Once the butter melts, remove the pan from the heat. Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. This lets the juices redistribute throughout the meat to keep the pork chops juicy.

How to Tell When Pork Chops are Done

According to the USDA, pork chops should be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 145° F and then allowed to rest for at least 3 minutes before consuming. The temperature of the pork chops will continue to rise a few degrees during the rest time due to carryover cooking. The best way to tell if pork chops are done is to use an instant read thermometer to test the internal temperature of the pork chops.

The secret to juicy pork chops? Don’t overcook them. Overcooking is a sure way to dry out pork chops, and they can go from perfect to dry in just a minute or two.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 2 bone-in pork chops* at least 1-inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, stir together the salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and cayenne pepper.
  • Place the flour in a wide, shallow dish.
  • Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet, such as a cast iron skillet, over medium-high heat.
  • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Rub the seasoning mixture over both sides of the pork chops. Dredge pork chops in the flour, coating both sides, and add them to the hot pan.
Allow the butter to melt and then remove the pan from the heat. Spoon or brush the butter and thyme sauce over the pork chops.
  • Let pork chops rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving.

Easy Breaded Pork Chops Recipe

When I’m looking for an easy dinner idea, I often turn to our collection of easy pork chop recipes. Pork chops cook quickly so they’re perfect for weeknight meals. Over the years I’ve shared many of our favorite pork chop recipes that are big on flavor yet fast to prepare:

And that leads us to these breaded pork chops, a family-friendly recipe that you can have on your table in just 30 minutes.

Four baked breaded pork chops on a serving plate with parsley garnish.

You’ll love these breaded pork chops because they’re made with simple ingredients that you likely keep on hand in your kitchen. The crispy coating is well seasoned with spices and Parmesan cheese. The trick to making the best baked breaded pork chops is to not overcook them. I recommend using an instant read thermometer to test the chops for doneness; for the juiciest chops take them out of the oven as soon as they reach 145° F in the center.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients for breaded pork chops recipe.

Here’s what you’ll need to make this breaded pork chops recipe.

  • Boneless Pork Chops: Try to buy pork chops that are about 1-inch thick, since thinner chops will dry out more easily. You can use bone-in pork chops but will have to increase the cook time.
  • Salt and Pepper: To season the pork chops.
  • Flour: Dredging the pork chops in flour helps the egg wash to stick.
  • Egg + Water: These are combined to make an egg wash, which you’ll dip the pork chops in. This helps the crispy bread crumb coating to stick to the meat.
  • Panko Bread Crumbs: The larger crumbs of panko bread crumbs get especially crispy in the oven. You can use regular bread crumbs if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Parmesan Cheese: To boost the flavor of the bread crumb coating. The salty, cheesy flavor of the Parmesan goes really well with the pork chops.
  • Seasonings: The bread crumbs are seasoned with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

Air Fryer Instructions

Air frying the breaded pork chops can make them extra crispy!

To cook these breaded pork chops in the air fryer instead of the oven, prepare the breading on the pork chops as directed in the recipe. Preheat the air fryer to 400° F for 5 minutes. Then air fry the breaded pork chops at 400° F for 5 minutes. Flip the pork chops over and continue to cook for 3-7 more minutes, until the internal temperature of the center of the pork chops is 145° F.

Pork chop stuffed with apple stuffing served on plate.

Judging by the popularity of our Baked Pork Chops recipe, many of you love cooking pork chops for dinner as much as we do. These stuffed pork chops are a delicious twist on your basic pork chop dinner. They’re so flavorful and fairly quick to make. If your family loves pork chops, you’ll want to add this recipe to your regular dinner rotation.

To make this stuffed pork chops recipe, you’ll cut a pocket inside each pork chop and fill it with a flavorful stuffing mixture. Instead of relying on boxed stuffing mix (like Stove Top stuffing), this recipe uses a simple homemade stuffing made with sautéed onion, celery and apple, fresh herbs and crispy Panko breadcrumbs. The flavors of apple, sage and rosemary are incredible with the pork chops, which are seared in a skillet until golden brown before they finish cooking in the oven.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here are the simple ingredients you’ll need to make these stuffed pork chops.

Ingredients for stuffed pork chops recipe.
  • Butter: For sautéing the onion, celery and apple. The butter adds rich buttery flavor to the pork chop stuffing.
  • Onion and Celery: Just like when making a classic stuffing recipe, onion and celery bring savory flavor to the breadcrumb mixture that will be stuffed into the pork chops.
  • Apple: Apple and pork are a perfect pair! Adding chopped apple to the stuffing makes these stuffed pork chops the best combination of sweet and savory.
  • Garlic: Fresh garlic adds more flavor.
  • Fresh Sage & Rosemary: These herbs are often used to make homemade stuffing, and their earthy flavor is perfect in this recipe. Fresh herbs will give you the best flavor, but if you have to use dried, cut the amount down to 1/3 of the amount as you would fresh.
  • Panko Breadcrumbs: The larger crumbs of panko breadcrumbs are a perfect stand in for the bread cubes traditionally used in stuffing. Panko works well for making stuffed pork chops since we’re making just a small quantity of stuffing.
  • Seasonings: The outsides of the pork chops are seasoned with a flavorful mixture of garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  • Pork Chops: I used boneless pork chops, but bone-in will also work well. If using bone-in, they will take longer to cook through in the oven. Try to buy pork chops that are about 1-inch thick for this recipe.
  • Olive Oil: For searing the pork chops in the skillet.

How to Cook Stuffed Pork Chops

If you have a cast iron skillet or other skillet that can go from stove top to oven, you can use it to prepare this recipe in one pan. If not, you can do the stove top steps in a skillet and then transfer the pork chops to a baking dish to finish cooking in the oven.

Chopped onion, celery and apple in cast iron skillet with wooden spoon.

First, you’ll prepare the simple stuffing mixture. Melt the butter in a skillet and then add the onion, celery and apple and cook until softened. Then add the minced garlic and sage to the pan and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Transfer the contents of the skillet to a bowl and add the bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper and stir the mixture together.

Next, prepare the pork chops. Stir together the garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Use a knife to cut a pocket into the side of each pork chop. You want to make the pocket as big as you can but be careful not to cut all the way through to the other side, and leave the ends of the chops intact. Rub the seasoning mixture over the outside of the pork chops.

Spooning apple stuffing into pocket cut into boneless pork chop.

Spoon the stuffing mixture into the pocket of each pork chop. Be careful to not fill them too full, so that you can secure the pocket closed with toothpicks.

Then, sear the pork chops in the skillet until both sides are golden brown. Sprinkle on the fresh rosemary.

Browned and baked stuffed pork chops in cast iron skillet with fresh rosemary garnish.

Finally, transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the pork chops are cooked through. An instant read thermometer should register 145° F when inserted into the thickest part of the meat.

Stuffed Pork Chops Recipe Tips

  • Chop the onion, celery and apple very finely to allow more to fit inside the pocket of each pork chop.
  • To keep the pork chops from drying out, be careful to not overcook them.
  • As an alternative to the breadcrumb mixture, you can stuff the pork chops with leftover Thanksgiving stuffing.

Serving Suggestions

Partially sliced Instant Pot pork loin with gravy drizzled over it.

My family loves pork for dinner, and while I often make pork chops or pork tenderloin, cooking a pork loin is an easy way to make dinner feel just a bit fancier. Recently I decided to try cooking a pork loin in the Instant Pot instead of making our usual Pork Loin Roast recipe, and we were so impressed with the results.

This Instant Pot pork loin is moist and juicy, and the best part is that it cooks right in the most delicious gravy. The gravy is an incredible combination of savory flavors (think garlic, soy sauce, tomato paste) with a touch of sweetness from honey. It’s like a cross between a gravy and a honey garlic sauce and it is amazing drizzled over the pork.

Pouring gravy on partially sliced pork loin.

This Instant Pot pork loin recipe is easy enough for a weeknight, yet impressive enough to serve to company. Serve it with Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Vegetables for a meal the whole family will love.

Pork Loin vs. Pork Tenderloin

This recipe calls for a boneless pork loin roast, which is not the same thing as a pork tenderloin. A pork tenderloin is long and thin, while a pork loin is wider. If you want to cook a pork tenderloin, here’s our favorite Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin recipe.

Instant Pot Pork Loin Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for instant pot pork loin recipe.

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Instant Pot pork loin recipe:

  • Boneless Pork Loin Roast: The recipe includes cook times for a 2-3 pound pork loin.
  • Seasonings: The pork is rubbed with a mixture of paprika, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt and pepper. This seasoning mix is a simpler variation of our favorite Pork Rub recipe.
  • Olive Oil: For searing the pork in the Instant Pot.
  • Chicken Broth: Chicken broth is the liquid that allows the Instant Pot to pressurize. It also forms the base of the gravy.

The Most Delicious Gravy

The gravy is one of the best parts of this pork loin recipe! It’s an incredible combination of savory flavors with a hint of sweetness. For the gravy, you’ll need:

  • Soy Sauce: Adds umami flavor to the gravy. I recommend using low sodium soy sauce so that the sauce doesn’t turn out too salty.
  • Honey: Adds a touch of sweetness to the sauce.
  • Tomato Paste: Adds richness to the gravy.
  • Dijon Mustard: A perfect complement to the pork. The mustard flavor isn’t prominent, but if you don’t care for Dijon you can leave it out.
  • Garlic: Adds delicious flavor to the gravy.
  • Cornstarch and Water: To make a cornstarch slurry, which thickens the gravy.

How to Cook a Pork Loin in an Instant Pot

Making this Instant Pot pork loin is a simple as seasoning and browning the meat, pressure cooking the pork in the sauce, and then thickening the gravy. Find the full recipe with ingredient amounts in the recipe card below.

  1. Combine the seasonings in a small bowl and rub the mixture over all sides of the pork loin. Raw boneless pork loin roast rubbed with seasoning mixture.
  2. Brown the pork in the Instant Pot, 1-2 minutes per side. Then transfer the meat to a clean plate. Browning pork loin in instant pot.
  3. Deglaze the pot by pouring in the chicken broth and scraping up any browned bits. This step helps to prevent the Instant Pot burn message.
  4. Add the soy sauce, honey, tomato paste, Dijon and garlic to the pot and stir. Sauce ingredients added to instant pot pressure cooker.
  5. Place the pork loin back in the Instant Pot.
  6. Pressure cook according to the cook times below.
  7. Once the cook time ends, allow the pressure to naturally release for 20 minutes by leaving the Instant Pot alone. Then quick release any remaining pressure (there may not be any) and open the Instant Pot. Pork loin in instant pot after pressure cooking.
  8. Remove the pork to a clean cutting board and let it rest while you thicken the gravy.
  9. Stir together the cornstarch and water and then stir the cornstarch slurry into the Instant Pot. Simmer using the sauté function until thickened. Gravy in instant pot with whisk.
  10. Slice the pork and serve it with the gravy.

How Long to Cook a Pork Loin in the Instant Pot

The cook time will depend on the size and thickness of your pork loin. Here is a general guide:

  • 2 pound pork loin: Pressure cook on high pressure for 14 minutes followed by a 20 minute natural release.
  • 2.5 pound pork loin: Pressure cook on high pressure for 16 minutes followed by a 20 minute natural release.
  • 3 pound pork loin: Pressure cook on high pressure for 18 minutes followed by a 20 minute natural release.

The best way to tell if the pork is cooked through is to use an instant read thermometer to test the temperature of the center of the meat. The USDA recommends cooking whole cuts of pork to 145° F, and they note that pork may still be a little pink in the center at this temperature.

If the pork is not quite to temperature after pressure cooking, turn on the sauté function (with the lid off), let the sauce come to a simmer, and then turn off sauté and place the lid back on the pot for about 5 minutes, repeating as needed until the pork reaches 145° F.

Then it finishes cooking in the slow cooker so that it’s ready to serve at dinner time. The ingredients are simple and the result is an easy, delicious meal that’s perfect for any night of the week.

Pork tenderloin is one of our favorite cuts of meat because it’s lean, tender and flavorful. Our Baked Pork Tenderloin Recipe is always a hit with the whole family, and we’re happy to add this slow cooker pork tenderloin to our recipe rotation!

Crock Pot Pork Tenderloin Recipe Ingredients

You’ll need just a few ingredients to make the best crock pot pork tenderloin.

Ingredients for crock pot pork tenderloin recipe.

  • Seasonings: For the seasoning rub, you’ll need brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt and pepper. This seasoning blend is a variation of our favorite Pork Rub and adds so much flavor to the pork tenderloin.
  • Pork Tenderloin: Often pork tenderloins come in a package with two tenderloins, which is perfect for this recipe. If you only want to cook one tenderloin, you can.
  • Onion: For additional flavor.
  • Olive Oil: You’ll need olive oil to brown the pork tenderloin and soften the onions in a skillet before adding them to the slow cooker.

Pork Loin vs. Tenderloin

This recipe calls for pork tenderloin, which is different than a pork loin (sometimes called a pork roast). A pork tenderloin is long and thin, while a pork loin is larger and wider. Pork tenderloin is a favorite of ours because, as the name suggests, it is very tender after cooking.

How to Cook Pork Tenderloin in a Crock Pot

You will love how quick and easy this recipe is to prepare!

  1. Combine the seasonings in a small bowl.
  2. Pat the pork tenderloin dry and trim off any silver skin. Then rub the seasonings onto all sides of the meat. Two raw pork tenderloins on a plate rubbed with seasonings.
  3. Cook the sliced onions in a skillet on the stove for about 5 minutes, until softened and lightly browned. This step is important for developing flavor. Then transfer the onions to the slow cooker. Cooking sliced onions in a skillet.
  4. Add the pork to the skillet and sear on all sides until browned. Place the pork on top of the onions in the slow cooker. Browning pork tenderloins in a cast iron skillet.
  5. Cover and cook on low until the pork is cooked through. Then let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Browned pork tenderloins on top of onions in slow cooker.

How Long to Cook Pork Tenderloin in a Crock Pot

One pound pork tenderloins will take about 2-3 hours to cook on low in the slow cooker. Since pork tenderloins cook quickly, I recommend cooking on low, not high, so that there is less risk of the meat drying out. This recipe calls for cooking two (one pound each) pork tenderloins. If you are only cooking one tenderloin, it may cook a bit faster. The pork is done when the center registers 145° F on an instant read thermometer.

Do You Need to Add Liquid?

You do not need to add any liquid to the crock pot for this recipe. The pork will release moisture as it cooks. As you can see in the photos, there is some liquid in the crock pot after the pork cooks through. I like to serve these juices over the pork. You can also thicken them to make gravy, if desired.

Three slices of pork tenderloin with juices and onions, with green beans on the side.

What to Serve with Crock Pot Pork Tenderloin

After cooking the pork tenderloin in the crock pot, serve it with the juices and onions from the crock pot, along with a few simple side dishes for an easy, tasty meal.

Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Try not to overcook the pork tenderloin, so that it stays tender and juicy. Mine took 2-2.5 hours on low.
  • This recipe can be halved to cook just one pork tenderloin.
  • This recipe is delicious with apples added to it. Sauté them in the pan with the onions so that they start to soften before adding them to the slow cooker. Use a firm variety of apple, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. You can peel the apples or leave the skins on.
  • Leftover pork tenderloin can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it and serve with side dishes, or add BBQ sauce and serve on a burger bun for a delicious pork sandwich.

Grilled Pork Tenderloin is a summertime staple! This easy recipe features our favorite pork tenderloin marinade to infuse the meat with flavor.

Sliced grilled pork tenderloin on a rectangular plate.

When it’s grilling season, we take every opportunity to cook dinner outside on the grill. This grilled pork tenderloin recipe is one of our favorite grilling recipes. Not only is it incredibly simple to make, but it makes a truly impressive meal, worthy of serving to company or enjoying alfresco as a quick weeknight dinner. The pork is marinated in a delicious Pork Tenderloin Marinade, made with soy sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar and a generous amount of garlic to make the flavors pop. This Pork Rub would be a fantastic alternative seasoning if you prefer a dry rub over a marinade.

Grilling the pork creates a mouthwatering caramelized crust on the outside, while keeping the center juicy and tender. Fire up the grill, this grilled pork tenderloin recipe is one you’ll want to make all summer long.

Grilled Pork Tenderloin Recipe Ingredients

The Best Pork Tenderloin Marinade

This pork tenderloin recipe starts with a flavorful marinade. Like my Pork Chop Marinade, not only does the marinade add flavor but it also tenderizes the pork.

  • Olive Oil: Helps to transfer the flavors of the other ingredients to the pork and prevents the meat from sticking to the grill.
  • Soy Sauce: One of my favorite flavor-packed marinade ingredients! I recommend using a low sodium soy sauce.
  • Lemon Juice: Brightens up the flavors and helps to tenderize the meat.
  • Brown Sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness and helps the marinade to caramelize on the pork as it cooks. You can substitute honey, or omit the sweetener if you prefer a sugar-free recipe.
  • Dijon Mustard: Brings so much flavor! You’ll love the subtle tanginess that it brings to the marinade.
  • Garlic: For that irreplaceable fresh garlic flavor.
  • Dried Oregano: Italian seasoning also works well here.
  • Salt and Pepper: To make all of the flavors pop.

Pork Tenderloin vs. Pork Loin

This recipe calls for a pork tenderloin, which is different from a pork loin. A pork tenderloin is a long, thin cut of meat that is especially tender after cooking. A pork loin is wider and larger, takes longer to cook through, and, while delicious, is not as tender after cooking. Be sure to buy a 1 to 1.5 pound pork tenderloin for this recipe.

How to Grill Pork Tenderloin

Grilling pork tenderloin is so easy! Here’s an overview of the recipe steps:

  1. Whisk together the marinade ingredients. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the marinade in a separate small dish to brush on the pork partway through cooking. Pork tenderloin marinade in bowl with a whisk.
  2. Trim any silver skin off of the pork tenderloin. Place the pork in a large zip-top bag, pour the marinade in the bag, and seal. Squish the bag a bit to make sure all of the meat is coated in the marinade.
  3. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour and up to 12 hours. Pork tenderloin and marinade in zip-top plastic bag.
  4. Heat an outdoor gas grill or charcoal grill to medium heat. Grill the tenderloin over medium heat with the grill closed for 15-25 minutes, turning every few minutes, until the center of the pork reaches 145° F. When the pork is almost done, brush it with the reserved marinade.
  5. Let the meat rest for 5-10 minutes on a clean plate or cutting board, then slice and serve.

How to Tell When Pork is Done

How long it takes for a pork tenderloin to cook through on the grill will depend on its size and the temperature of your grill. The best way to tell when it is done is to use an instant read thermometer to test the internal temperature of the meat. According to the USDA, whole cuts of pork should be cooked to 145° F and then allowed to rest for at least 3 minutes before serving. Cooking the pork tenderloin to 145 degrees will ensure that it is tender and juicy. Pork may look a little pink in the center at this temperature.

Recipe Tips

  • Grill pork tenderloin over medium heat, not hotter, or the outside may burn before the center is cooked through.
  • Try not to overcook the pork. Cook it to 145° F for the juiciest result.
  • Let the meat rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This rest time allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. The internal temperature of the pork will also rise a few degrees while it rests, due to carryover cooking.

Make the very best pork tenderloin with this Pork Tenderloin Marinade! With instructions for how to cook your marinated pork tenderloin on the grill, in the oven, or in the air fryer.

Sliced grilled pork tenderloin on a serving plate.

Pork tenderloin is a dinnertime staple in our house. It’s quick and easy to prepare, and the whole family loves it! This versatile cut of meat is a favorite for everything from Sunday dinner to quick weeknight meals.

This pork tenderloin marinade will take your pork to a new level of deliciousness. It’s a simple combination of ingredients that infuses the meat with flavor and makes every bite irresistible. Like this Pork Chop Marinade, Chicken Marinade and Steak Marinade, this marinade recipe is an easy way to elevate the flavor of your dinner. It takes just a few minutes to combine the marinade ingredients. You can marinate the pork for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator, or even freeze it in the marinade for a fast meal later on.

Pork Tenderloin Marinade Ingredients

  • Olive Oil: Adds moisture, prevents the pork from sticking to the grill (if grilling), and helps to transfer the flavors of the other ingredients to the pork.
  • Soy Sauce: Brings umami flavor. I recommend using a low sodium soy sauce.
  • Lemon Juice: Helps to tenderize the meat and adds bright, zippy flavor.
  • Brown Sugar: For a touch of sweetness. You can omit the brown sugar if you prefer, or substitute honey.
  • Dijon Mustard: One of my favorite ingredients – you won’t be able to discern the mustard flavor but it adds a wonderful tanginess to the marinade.
  • Garlic: Fresh garlic brings so much flavor.
  • Dried Oregano: Or try other dried herbs, such as Italian seasoning or dried thyme.
  • Salt & Pepper: For flavor.
  • Pork Tenderloin: Be sure to buy a pork tenderloin, not a pork loin. Pork tenderloin is long, thin and exceptionally tender, while a pork loin is a wider cut of meat that, while delicious, is not as tender after cooking. If you have a pork loin, see my Pork Loin Roast recipe.

How to Marinate Pork Tenderloin

  1. First, combine the marinade ingredients in a small bowl and whisk them together. Pork tenderloin marinade ingredients whisked together in small bowl.
  2. Trim any silver skin off of the pork tenderloin. (The silver skin is a tough silver/white membrane that you may find on one side of the pork.)
  3. Place the pork in a large zip-top plastic bag. Pour the marinade into the bag with the meat and seal. Alternatively, you can marinate the pork in a bowl or dish. Marinade and pork tenderloin in a zip-top bag.
  4. Place in the refrigerator and marinate for at least 1 hour and up to 12 hours or overnight.
  5. Then, cook the tenderloin as desired, discarding any used marinade.

How to Cook Pork Tenderloin

This pork tenderloin marinade can be used with a variety of cooking methods. We often use it in the summer to make grilled pork tenderloin, but you can also bake the pork tenderloin or even cook it in the air fryer.

  • To Grill: Heat an outdoor grill or grill pan to medium heat. Grill the pork tenderloin over medium heat with the grill closed for 15-25 minutes, turning every few minutes, until the center of the tenderloin reaches 145° F. Let pork rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
  • To Bake: Preheat the oven to 400° F. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. (If you do not have an oven-safe skillet you can transfer the pork to a baking dish after browning it.) Add the pork to the pan and brown on all sides, 1-2 minutes per side. Transfer to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the pork reaches 145° F. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
  • Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 380° F for 5 minutes. Air fry the pork at 380° F for 10 minutes. Then flip the tenderloin over and continue cooking for 8-16 more minutes, or until the center of the pork registers 145° F on an instant read thermometer. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Or try this Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin.

If you’d like to cook pork tenderloin in the Instant Pot, try this Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin recipe.

Pork tenderloin and marinade sealed in zip-top bag.

Tips for the Best Juicy Pork Tenderloin

  • Before adding the pork to the marinade, reserve a few tablespoons of marinade to brush on the pork during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Don’t heat the grill or pan too hot or the outside of the pork may burn before the inside is cooked through.
  • To tell when pork is done, use an instant read thermometer to measure the internal temperature in the center. Pork should be cooked to at least 145° F and then allowed to rest for at least 3 minutes before serving. For best results, try not to overcook the meat. Pork tenderloin can be a little pink in the center and still be done.
  • Let the meat rest for 5 minutes before serving. During the rest time, the pork will continue to cook a bit due to carryover cooking. The juices will redistribute throughout the meat so that your pork turns out juicy and tender.

Serving Suggestions

I like to vary the side dishes that I serve with marinated pork tenderloin depending on the season. If it’s summer and you’re grilling, serve it with Grilled Vegetables and Potato Salad or Corn on the Cob and a Greek Pasta Salad. In the colder months, opt for cozier side dishes like Homemade Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Green Beans or Brussels Sprouts.

Four pork carnitas tacos on a plate.

Given my love of both Mexican cuisine and my slow cooker, it’s easy to see why carnitas is one of my favorite easy slow cooker recipes. For taco night or Cinco de Mayo, this carnitas recipe can’t be beat!

These carnitas are extremely versatile. They make the best pork tacos, they’re a delicious enchilada filling, and they take quesadillas to a whole new level. You can also add them to burrito bowls, nachos and more!

Make a big batch and enjoy a variety of delicious meals throughout the week. Or, put the leftovers in your freezer for a quick meal later on.

Tongs grabbing carnitas above a sheet pan.

What is Carnitas

Carnitas is Mexican pulled pork, typically made with pork butt or pork shoulder that’s slow cooked until it’s fall apart tender and juicy. Authentic carnitas are typically cooked in lard, but instead this recipe calls for slow cooking the seasoned pork with onion, garlic, orange juice and lime juice. While this recipe may not be 100% traditional, I assure you it is incredibly delicious.

The best parts are the crispy bits that you get by placing the shredded pork under the broiler. The edges caramelize, giving you the best combination of tender juicy pork and crispy edges!

Carnitas Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for carnitas recipe.

  • Pork Shoulder or Pork Butt: These are the best types of pork for making carnitas because their higher fat content makes for extra tender and juicy pulled pork.
  • Seasonings: Dried oregano, ground cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper make the pork so flavorful.
  • Orange Juice and Lime Juice: These help to tenderize and flavor the meat as it cooks.
  • Onion and Garlic: For more flavor!

How to Make Carnitas

Here is a quick overview of the steps to making this recipe. Find the full recipe with ingredient amounts and instructions below.

  1. Put the pork in the slow cooker. Rub it with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Add the orange juice, lime juice, onion and garlic to the slow cooker. Uncooked seasoned pork butt in slow cooker with onion, garlic, orange juice and lime juice.
  3. Cover and cook until the pork shreds easily. This will take about 8 to 10 hours on low, or 5 to 6 hours on high.
  4. Remove the pork from the slow cooker. Shred using two forks.
  5. To get crispy edges on the pork (the best part!) place the shredded carnitas on a baking sheet and place it under the broiler for a few minutes until the edges begin to crisp and caramelize. I like to add a little of the juices from the slow cooker for flavor, but not so much that the pork becomes soggy. Shredded pork carnitas on a foil lined sheet pan.
  6. The carnitas is so good, you’ll want to eat it straight from the pan! Our favorite way to serve it is wrapped in warm tortillas, topped with chopped onion, avocado and fresh cilantro. A squeeze of fresh lime juice is delicious here too.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use pork tenderloin or pork loin? These cuts of pork do not work well for carnitas because they don’t become as tender or as flavorful. The higher fat content in pork shoulder/pork butt makes for fall apart tender shredded pork with mouthwatering flavor.
  • Can I use bone in pork butt/shoulder? Yes, but it may take longer to cook due to the bone.
  • Can I freeze carnitas? Yes, carnitas freeze well. Store the shredded pork and some of the juices in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. It’s best to freeze before crisping it under the broiler. This way, you can reheat in the oven on a baking sheet and crisp it at the same time.
  • Can I make carnitas in the Instant Pot? Yes! You’ll love my Instant Pot Carnitas recipe!

Serving Suggestions

Carnitas can be used to make shredded pork tacos, enchiladas, or quesadillas. Try adding it to nachos, or serve in a burrito bowl or salad. Or keep it simple and serve carnitas alongside rice, beans and guacamole for a quick meal.

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup orange juice from two small or one large orange

Instructions

My family loves crispy bacon, and I am addicted to cooking with my air fryer. Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before I tried air frying this breakfast classic.

I usually cook bacon in the oven, so I was interested to compare air fryer bacon with oven bacon.

The verdict? Air fryer bacon has a bit of an edge if you’re looking for the crispiest bacon recipe. And you’ll love the way the edges get all wavy (think: extra crispy).

But if you’re feeding a crowd, oven bacon is the winner. I just love how I can fit enough bacon for my whole family on a sheet pan, without having to air fry in batches.

Cooking Bacon in the Air Fryer

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food, similar to a convection oven. Because of the air circulation, air frying is an ideal cooking method when you want to make crispy foods, such as bacon.

Cooking bacon in the air fryer is really simple, but there is one issue that can come up: smoking. To prevent bacon from burning or smoking in the air fryer, it’s best to cook it at a temperature lower than the smoke point of bacon grease. I’ve experimented with different cooking temperatures and found 350° F to be the best temperature for air fryer bacon. Some recipes also call for adding a bit of water or a piece of bread to the bottom of the air fryer to help prevent smoking, but I find that cooking bacon at a lower temperature is sufficient to prevent smoking.

How to Cook Bacon in an Air Fryer

Cooking bacon in the air fryer is so simple!

First, lay the bacon slices in the air fryer basket. If the slices are too long to fit in the basket, you can cut them in half to make them fit better. It is ok if the bacon slices are touching each other in the basket, but they shouldn’t be overlapping or layered on top of each other.

Then, air fry at 350° F for 8-15 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked how you like it. Finally, transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to soak up any excess bacon grease. Then enjoy!

How Long to Cook Bacon in the Air Fryer

The cook time for air fryer bacon can range any where from 8 minutes to 15 minutes at 350° F. Why such a large time range? There are a number of factors that play into how long bacon will take to cook in an air fryer:

  • The thickness of the bacon. Thick cut bacon will take longer to cook than thin slices.
  • Your air fryer model. Different air fryers can cook differently, so it’s important to check on your food and adjust the cook time as needed.
  • Your preferences. You’ll want to cook your bacon longer if you like it extra crispy and well done. If you prefer it softer and more chewy, you’ll want to air fry it for fewer minutes.

Recipe Tips

  • Cook bacon in a single layer in the air fryer basket. I usually have to cook the bacon in a few batches to feed my family. Be sure to pour out the grease from the bottom of the air fryer in between batches.
  • Air fry bacon at 350° F. Cooking at a higher temperature may cause the bacon grease to smoke.
  • To clean your air fryer after cooking bacon, first pour out the grease that will have collected in the bottom of the air fryer. Then wash out the basket with warm soapy water. After the air fryer cools, you may want to wipe down the inside with a damp cloth to clean off any grease spatters.

How to Store & Reheat Bacon

Cooked bacon can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat bacon in the air fryer at 350° F for a few minutes, until hot and crispy. Or, reheat in the microwave.
